My Sports Profile was founded by Peter van Rij in 2010. Peter van Rij is a former collegiate (he played NCAA Division 1 at Fairfield and Charleston Southern University) and professional basketball player.

Prior to attending college, he competed in the Dutch first league, and has played professionally in Germany and Italy. He also played for the Dutch national team.

The idea of developing My Sports Profile was developed when, during Peter's professional career, athletes would constantly ask him for advice about how they could pursue their dreams of playing overseas, and if he knew a team that was looking for players. He also noticed a lot of young athletes interested in playing collegiate sports.

To make the scouting process more efficient for athletes seeking to start or currently pursuing a professional career in sports, the service allows them to build profiles of verified personal and athletic information. It provides coaches, General Mangers/club teams, agents, scouts – of all levels- with a vast, searchable database of potential candidates.

To make the recruiting process more efficient for high school student athletes, the service allows them to build profiles of verified academic and athletic information, as well as research information on universities around the country. It provides college coaches with a vast, searchable database of potential recruits.

On the other hand, we want to offer fans and athletes related to sports a platform where they can contact and communicate with other like-minded people. (Our hope is that this will contribute) This should contribute to establishing and maintaining friendships in the context of sports.

Registered users can communicate within the plattform with other users electronically. Either by personal messages (e-mail) or within a sports specific forum, users can have conversations about a variety of topics. We also offer the ability to inform other users about various events.

In order to realize these objectives, we developed a simple, quick and efficient online platform. My Sports Profile offers registered users the ability to create a profile in an interactive database which can include sport specific and personal information. Besides the sport specific and personal information, athletes can also post sports specific "statistics", and upload pictures and game/highlight videos.

Created profiles can be viewed and analyzed on a daily bases and free of charge by the public (coaches, agents, scouts, General Managers, club teams, and fans of all levels).

Users can decide which user-groups are allowed to view their profile.

My Sports Profile seeks to serve a large variety of users from 24 different sports.
